Our names are Edris and Lidya, and we live in the city of Otsego, with our three young children. We come from a community that values inclusion. As refugees, we understand the importance of a reliable home, and sense of stability. When someone moves into to our house, they will be treated as we treat each other. We would hope to learn your likes and dislikes and make our home a welcoming and happy place for you to be.
Our home is three stories, and includes a large backyard. There are four bedrooms upstairs, and a living room. An office, dining room, and kitchen are on the first floor. The basement level is currently unfinished, but we plan to convert this area into a semi-private suite that would include a bedroom, full bathroom, kitchenette, and living area. Whomever moves to our house will have their choice of the upstairs bedroom, or the basement suite. We are open to making modifications to the home including a stair lift, if this would serve somebody’s needs.
Edris grew up in a community that valued taking care of each other in spite of circumstances. Edris migrated to Kenya as a refugee, where many people arrived to without any resources. Family supported Edris to move to America, and after he graduated college, he began volunteering in an Autism program. He currently works as direct support professional where he teaches adaptive skills, and promotes community inclusion and at a hospital. Lidya works part time in home health care. en, ages 5, 4, and 1. Lidya works part time in home health care, while Edris work at a hospital, full time. The schedules of both Lidya and Edris allow the possibility for 24/7 supports to be provided.
Seeing others happy, makes us happy. We enjoy making a positive impact on others, even in the small ways. We strive to do good deeds, and let go of the things that we cannot control.
