Calhoun is a duplex in the Uptown area of Minneapolis serving individuals who are developmentally disabled and able to live independently. The men who live there spend time in the community pursuing their interests and involved with friends. The lower level is a site licensed as a community residential service. There is a manager on-site and 24-hour supervision for the 2 people who live on the lower level. The manager and other staff are available in an emergency.
The open bedroom is in the upstairs of the home. There are two separate bedrooms in the apartment. The person who chooses to live here will share common living spaces: kitchen, bathroom and living room with the current resident. The person who shares this apartment will be charged rent since this is not a licensed site and GRH does not apply. They will also pay for and prepare their own food. The person can receive hourly services from a provider of their choice, but it is not meant to be a 24-hour supervised site. The process for applying for this site will include sending a referral and setting up a tour to meet the other resident in the apartment. This is not a handicap accessible site.
