My name is Merertu Kitila, and my daughter and I are
eager to open up our home in Woodbury, Minnesota.
What motivates me is my passion for helping others, a
sense of empathy and the belief in the power of
community. We are blessed to live in a beautiful
neighborhood, with friendly and welcoming neighbors.
Our church community is a big part of our lives, and
we consider them all to be family. With my previous
experience in the health care field and in human rights
advocacy, I am ready to embrace this season of
change and provide high quality supports to
somebody looking to receive them.
A perfect day for us would include eating breakfast,
doing chores and then spending the rest of the day
together doing activities outside or enjoying a quiet
game inside. We understand the importance of
staying active both for mental and physical health. We
also want to ensure that you have opportunities to be
active and participate in activities of your liking.
Our house is a split level. When you walk inside, you can
either go up to the kitchen and living room area or head
downstairs to the bedroom and lower level living area. The
available bedroom is located downstairs, and a semiprivate bath is adjacent to the room. Our expectation
would just be that the person supported helps out around
the house to the extent that they are able.
Through my profession, as well as through lived
experience, I have developed a fierce advocacy for others.
My work as a PCA and CNA has taught me how to observe
for medical changes, perform cares, and advocate for
those who might not communicate with words. My
daughter is an active high school senior and also works
part-time at the same assisted living as me. When
somebody moves into the home, I will be able to modify
my schedule to accommodate the level of support that
they prefer. By using my blessings and skills, I hope to
help somebody achieve their goals and dreams.
