Homeward Bound was established on August 14th, 1973 by parents of children with a variety of physical and mental challenges. A non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, Homeward Bound supports children, adolescents, and adults with disabilities. We provide 24-hour specialized nursing care, group living environments, in-home services, and individualized housing options for persons of all ages and ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds.
The expertise we provide can be applied to virtually any situation or environment in which supports are desired including group living environments, the family home, or one’s own home.
Homeward Bound follows a person-centered, active support approach to ensure that the individuals with disabilities we serve have a hand in directing their services and a voice concerning their future. We place no limits on what a person is capable of accomplishing.
Every day we work to empower those we serve and their families with the resources to make informed decisions and control their own destiny.
We believe that community interaction is central to a person’s life. We work to assist people to physically navigate and ensure accessibility so they can move about and be part of their community as a productive citizen. Everyone receiving services from Homeward Bound should be growing and developing their skills, making choices, and becoming interconnected with the community.
We are proud to be a part of the Twin Cities metro community.
